Fruit of the Spirit

Here at Joseph’s, we believe that all pupils, staff, parents and governors are a part of a community of learning, where standards and expectations are high, and Christ at the centre of all our teachings.

We seek to further the work of Jesus by expecting, nurturing and demonstrating the fruits the Holy Spirit gives us:

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control;” Galatians 5:22

What the Fruits of the Spirit mean to us at St. Joseph’s

Picture 1 Love – Jesus said show love to everyone
Picture 2 Peace – we are peacemakers because we work together to solve our problems
Picture 3 Joy – We have joy in our hearts because we know that Jesus loves everyone
Picture 4 Patience – We understand things don’t always go our way
Picture 5 Kindness – We look for chances to help others; share what we have and look after others
Picture 6 Goodness – Jesus taught us to treat others as we would like to be treated ourselves
Picture 7 Faithfulness – We have faith in God’s plan.  We commit to one another and trust in God’s plan for us
Picture 8 Gentleness – We care about how others feel
Picture 9 Self-Control – We use Jesus as a role model to help us make good choices

Just like a fruit tree needs sunlight, food, good soil and water to give healthy fruit, we need God’s love, our family, friends and community to help us grow in the fruits of the Spirit.

If we show one of these gifts we will be awarded that particular fruit sticker. Along with the adults the children can nominate their peers for showing a gift of the Holy Spirit. We believe this helps the children to have more responsibility to make choices and exercise their rights, making St. Joseph’s a wonderful place to learn!
