We are lucky enough to have a thriving and dedicated chaplaincy team here at St Joseph’s.
Mrs Collard-Gentle and Mrs Riccierri O’Neill were commissioned by the Bishop in November 2018 to be school chaplains. They are supported in school by Miss Bushell and Mrs Hall.
At St Joseph’s, we have strong pastoral teams where everyone (children and adults) belong to one of our 4 school groups: St Aidan, St Bede, St Cuthbert and St Wilfred. Children and adults meet together across the school each fortnight to share a liturgy and reflection together in smaller, cross phase groups. Parents are invited to join their children for worship on a regular basis.
We also have a group of pupils in Year 5 and 6 who have been appointed as pupil chaplains and lead the school in worship and reflection. They are keen fundraisers, and their efforts have already raised substantial amounts for MacMillan Cancer Support and Butterwick Hospice. A prayer garden, within school grounds, is on their wish list and they hope to begin fundraising very soon. Along with our Mini-Vinnies, our chaplains will be regularly visiting our older parishioners, at the Friendship Group meetings, in St. Joseph’s Church.
